Today there are stereotypes about ‘quiet kids’ doing violent things because they were pushed to their limits.
This is NOT that story.
This is the story of my transformation into the Introverted Social Butterfly!
As an introvert, I was misunderstood, because people immediately assume that I HATE conversation.
This of course lead to me sitting alone at the corner, observing people talk.
I slumped while going to school. I kept my head down, like the outcast I was. Just because of one misunderstanding.
Personally, I LOVE conversation. I just don’t like the pointless topics that lead to nowhere! This is what most introverts feel! That’s why some introverts just avoid talking because conversations now are just filled with pointless stuff.
Not me though! I decided to take action. I observed what other people did to survive the battlefield of SMALL TALK.
It took me WEEKS.
However, after so many headaches, I got it!
THE KEY TO SMALL TALK!
Visualize conversation as Wikipedia!
Let me Explain!
Wikipedia is filled with hyperlinks of different topics which can go to anywhere with no particular goal.
Sound familiar?
It’s Small Talk simplified!
All you have to do is ask about the topic that the person mentioned in conversation and keep going!
So, I started to apply it!
“Hey, what did you guys do last night?”
“Bro! I played some Games and ate Pizza! It’s awesome!”
Notice how we can CONTROL the conversation to Games or Food just by asking:
- “Cool! What kind of games are you into?”
- “That’s sick! What pizza toppings are your favorite?”
This mindset change allowed me to survive the initial small talk and build the deeper connections later on which I love!
Try it and get your social glow-up now!
