My opinion? No, it’s not

Earlier this week, I saw a viral Medium article that argued that YouTube is dying and being replaced with TikTok.
While I found myself nodding in agreement to parts of the article, I couldn’t help but think: “YouTube isn’t going anywhere, yet.”
Here’s why I think so:
Some people are greatly annoyed by TikTok. The repetitive sounds, the overused trends, the amount of young people on the app, all create a somewhat unwelcome atmosphere for certain individuals.
YouTube is for everyone. All ages, no discrimination.
Plus, YouTube has been around much longer than TikTok. YouTube was started in 2005 and TikTok didn’t pop up until 2016. YouTube has had the chance to build a loyal audience.
I post on YouTube every week and I get about the same amount of views each time I post. They’re not going down. So I, for one, don’t think my audience is giving up on YouTube just yet.
I think that when someone finds a YouTuber they like, they’ll keep coming back to YouTube for that person. And since there are still plentiful YouTubers on the site, regularly pumping out content at that, people will continue to flock to YouTube for at least some of their entertainment.
So no, I don’t think YouTube is going anywhere. Not just yet, anyway.
