The period from the early 2000s to 2030 will be remembered in the history books as a time of significant change that caught a wildly underprepared and unappreciative population. Yes, I’m referring to technological advancements and social connectivity because these are areas that everyone needs to be focusing on right now.
There has never been more opportunity and fewer barriers to success than there are today. Do you want to learn how to start a dropshipping business? You can learn in 23 minutes on YouTube. Do you want food from your favorite restaurant in the middle of a thunderstorm without having to leave your bed? A few clicks and it’s there in under an hour.
Of course, I could go on forever but it doesn’t make sense to shake a fist at these advancements when they pose so much benefit to the average person. Instead, why not get on board with what’s popular? Let’s normalize considering the possibilities that come with change and leave negativity at the door just for the sake of this article. Everyone wants to be successful, social media puts materialism in our faces all day. What it doesn’t show you is the trajectory from ground 0 that allows those influencers to possess a luxurious lifestyle.
Who’s This For?
Whether you’re a young bull looking to get your name clicked on by a few thousand people or a middle-aged small business owner trying to get more customers, one thing you MUST BE doing is CREATING CONTENT. Content comes in so many forms today whether it be videos, blogs, print ads, you name it. The point is to have it. A lot of times this is intimidating because people don’t know what they want to post, or what others might think about what they post, or how long it’ll take to generate some form of traction (yet another list that goes on forever).
Let’s put it this way: If you own a device which… You must because.. How else would you be reading this? Then you already have done Step 1. Step 2 is to take action and start creating. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be something. You can always refine and improve as you go along. The key is to start somewhere and to keep going. Consistency is what attracts a following and adds fuel to the fire when building a personal brand.
What’s important, and you’ve probably heard it a thousand times, is to pick something you’re interested in/good at, and tailor the content you make about it toward a niche. Here are some ways to do that:
- Address the pain points of your audience and base your content on it
- Talk about your own experiences (authenticity is so valuable)
- Stay up to date with your subject
- Post on various platforms to expand your reach
- Stay consistent
Where’s The Value?
Whatever your content is going to be, it needs to provide some level of value. Whether this is information or simply just a good laugh, engagement is value. But don’t fall into the mistake of waiting for inspiration or motivation to get you going, because you’ll find that as you see progress.
So once you’ve got as far as to start creating content there is one last and very critical step. Refine, refine, refine… The more you put into constantly improving your content, whether it be going more in-depth on certain aspects, showing some form of a tutorial, telling stories, you name it, the more you’ll get out.
Just keep giving value. With this, you’ll not only grow your audience but attract an engaged audience. And realistically, it’s better to have 10 engaged followers than 100 bots.
In The End
The advancements of today provide endless opportunities so long as they are taken advantage of. This is the least sexy part about success, leaving what you know to take on a process of trial and ever. However, it’s a time you’ll look back on whimsically once it’s all paid off.
