7 Most Influential People on the Planet
I have come a long way in my life. I am 22 years old and I am nowhere near where I want to be in life. But I’m also vastly different than my 16 year old self would have expected me to be.
Over the past 6 years(16–22) I have watched thousands of hours of Youtube, read thousands of articles, listened to tons of books, and bought various courses.
Let me very briefly describe who I was-
Lost. I was lost. I had no idea how I was going to live my life. I knew what I didn’t want. Which is a good start.
I didn’t want to be trapped inside the Matrix.
I didn’t want to waste away my life.
- 9–5 Job I hate
- Live for the weekends
- No passion or purpose
- Poor relationship with family
Is this not how most of the world lives?
I think 80% of the world lives life at 20%. Going through the motions.
I could just see myself dragging through day to day life. Miserable. Dreading the 9–5 that takes over your entire life. Every minute you’re not at work you’re thinking about how much you hate being there. Every second you’re there you can’t take your eyes off the clock.
Then you come home to the wife and kids, but you’re so drained and miserable that your relationship is half of what it should be. Instead of playing with the kids, having discussions and teaching them valuable life lessons, you sit and stare at a TV screen.
Let’s not even get into your relationship with your wife (headed towards divorce). Or the fact that you have no hobbies, interests, or passions. You turned into a zombie.
That is exactly what I am trying to avoid.
To me being average or normal is the biggest risk of all.
So I took what I didn’t want and used that as a guide to set goals and an ideal future.
It will look something like this…
Picture yourself on a beach. Haha, I’m just kidding. I don’t want you to start there.
Instead, look around at where you are right now.
How do you feel?
Do you like where you are?
Probably a mixture of yes, and no.
I want you to ask yourself what it is that you don’t like about your situation.
For me, it’s the fact that I feel trapped 24/7.
I want to be able to do whatever I want, whenever I want.
NO ONE can tell me otherwise.
Now go back to that beach I told you to picture. You can go there anytime you want.
You’re not trapped there. If you want to go skiing in Colorado you can. Want to go sailing in the Caribbean, you can.
And most importantly, if you want to spend time with your kids, friends, parents or significant other, YOU CAN.
To me freedom is about having infinite possibilities, but deciding to live a (somewhat) structured life.
I am a writer. I want to be able to write from anywhere, anytime I want.
Back to the 7 most influential people.
The following 7 people have shaped my perspective of the world.
I want to share with you the 7 most influential people on the planet (at least to my life).
Because everyone needs a guide.
Everyone needs mentors.
If you don’t expose yourself to different world views, you will end up with the same views as everyone else. The same views that everyone tries to force on you.
- Get good grades
- Go to college
- Get a Job
- Work your life away
- Hopefully retire at 65
I am hoping that a few of the people on this list will spark your curiosity, and provide you with some value.
I’m excluding family and friends, obviously you do not have access to my family and friends.
- Arlin Moore
Arlin Moore is the OG.
He is the pioneer of the personal brand.
Arlin started posting YouTube videos while at Boston University. He simply posted vlogs.
But he was sooo much more than that. He was the first person to introduce me to this concept of the personal brand.
He would not only post videos on college parties, but also on anxiety, social anxiety, spirituality, business and fitness.
He was the first person who I saw blending multiple different interests together, and doing it in a way that provided value to others.
He went from typical college student, to a YouTuber with 100,000 subscribers within 1–2 years.
He then put out merch, 8am hoodies and T-shirts (his brand) and started making money online. He made thousands of dollars just from releasing his clothing brand.
He then went on to create online courses and coaching programs, moved into the hollywood hills, travels the world, and lives a dream lifestyle.
As of January 9, 2023, Arlin Moore’s net worth is $5 Million. (famous birthdays, idk how reliable it is…) He’s rich for sure.
Arlin taught me
- The power of a personal brand
- The belief that making money online is possible
- Importance of improving mind, body, spirit, and business
Arlin Moore single handedly started my entrepreneur journey. If it wasn’t for Arlin I would not be sitting here writing this. Which is a shame because I’m providing you with some fire today!
- Joe Rogan
Everyone knows who Joe Rogan is.
He has the most popular podcast in the world. Literally.
The Joe Rogan Experience.
As I’m writing this he has recorded 1,953 episodes.
He’s had so many different guests on his show, it’s absurd.
I won’t spend a long time explaining who he is, because you probably already know him. If you don’t, look him up. He’s on spotify and YouTube.
What Joe Rogan has taught me…
First, he is a prime example of being yourself, speak your truth, and the rest will fall into place. He pursued stand up comedy, MMA and his podcast. He simply follows his curiosity, works his ass off, and never gives up.
Rogan has introduced me to a multitude of interesting people (some may be on this list).
While not everything he says or shares is 100% accurate all the time, that’s also kinda the point. He has fun conversations and bullshits with his friends, other times he has brilliant people with DOCTORs and PHDs on the show.
Joe pursues his curiosity and enjoys the shit out of life. He always keeps shit real.
There’s really no way for me to sum up everything he has done to shape my perspective. I would just tell you to go explore his podcast and see what sparks your curiosity.
He introduced me to a new world of psychedelics, aliens, conspiracy theories, and more.
- Jordan Peterson
A psychologist, professor and author from Canada. He has been put in the political spotlight more recently. (Both by his own doing, as well as the media.)
I am not very interested in his political views. I stay away from politics as much as possible nowadays.
He got me hooked on philosophy and psychology.
He seems to be a fascinating blend of the two. I don’t believe he’s ever referred to himself as a philosopher but I would argue he is as close to a modern day philosopher as anyone.
He has thousands of hours of his lectures recorded and put up on YouTube.
I have yet to begin to dive into most of his content.
He has incredibly fascinating psychological discussions and lectures. I highly recommend checking him out if you’re interested in such topics of psychology and philosophy.
He is just incredibly entertaining to listen to, he does a fantastic job communicating, being clear and articulate.
But not only is listening to him entertaining but incredibly informative as well. He is a professor for gosh sakes.
“To suffer terribly and to know yourself as the cause: that is Hell.” — Jordan Peterson
He preaches taking responsibility for your life.
He mainly attracts men to his message but says a surprising number of women have found his message extremely impactful as well.
- Teaches Psychology and Philosophy
- Preaches Responsibility for oneself
- Is wildly fascinating
4) Alan Watts
Alan Watts is a philosopher.
He is known for philosophy and philosophy only.
He is the only one on this list who is a “one trick pony.”
- Unique perspective:
Alan Watts was a British philosopher, writer, and speaker who was well-known for his interpretation of Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. His teachings focus on topics like the nature of reality, the purpose of life, and the human condition, and offer a unique and thought-provoking perspective.
- Engaging speaking style:
Watts had a captivating and engaging speaking style that made his lectures and speeches entertaining and informative. He often used humor, storytelling, and metaphor to make complex philosophical concepts accessible to a wide audience.
- Timeless relevance:
Although Watts passed away in 1973, his ideas and teachings remain relevant and influential to this day. Many of his insights on spirituality, consciousness, and personal growth continue to resonate with people looking for deeper meaning and understanding in their lives.
“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” — Alan Watts
5) Andrew Tate
The most controversial man on this list.
The most controversial man on the planet perhaps.
So what could I have possibly learned from Top G?
How to disrespect women? Abuse power? Be a bad influence?
That’s what they say about him.
Have you ever sat down and listened to him?
A full clip. Not just 30 seconds.
Well you should. He is a fascinating and very well spoken man.
Andrew Tate taught me
- Take full responsibility for your life
- His message resonates with millions of men
- Be polarizing. Be bold. Share your beliefs with conviction.
If you study Andrew Tate, he gives you a blueprint to follow.
I do not want to become Andrew Tate. I don’t agree with everything he says.
He has an absurd lifestyle, looks very fun, but that is much too much for me.
I’m more of a chill on the beach with a few friends and family type of guy.
But what’s clear is that his message of escaping the matrix, taking responsibility for your life, and being a strong capable man, resonates with people.
This shows that if you were to share a similar message with conviction, you can amass a following as well.
That is really the most important thing I learned.
There is a starving audience of young men who want to take control of their life.
Side note: He also exposed the matrix. The control and manipulation that goes on in society.
6) Dan Koe
Dan Koe is a recent discovery.
I came across Dan sometime at the end of 2022, beginning of 2023.
And boy am I glad I did.
He changed my life. Seriously he did.
- Convinced me to begin a writing habit
- Solidified the “Niche of One”
- Made making an online income simple
- His course 2 Hour Writer is AMAZING
Anyone looking to begin the journey of a content creator has to check out Dan Koe.
And I highly highly recommend buying his course The 2 Hour Writer.
Without that course I would not be here writing this newsletter, or have a month’s worth of Tweets scheduled.
He has more depth behind his content than anyone I have come across on the internet.
I would call him a modern day philosopher.
I cannot recommend him enough.
I resonate most with Dan on this list.
I see myself becoming the next Dan Koe.
Is that weird to say…?
The way he thinks and presents his content resonates with me, and it might be weird but I can see my past, current and future self within him.
Dan has connected the dots for me.
He has given me the knowledge to pursue writing full time and make thousands of dollars doing so.
When I am a full time creator making $10K/mo working when and where I want, I will have to personally thank Dan Koe for propelling me towards that accomplishment.
7) Kieran Drew
Last but not least. Kieran Drew.
He is similar to Dan Koe. He started out as a cosmetic Dentist.
But after starting on Twitter and falling in love with being a creator he quit his job and went full time.
It took him a year or so to get to 100K followers on Twitter.
And after monetizing he recently reached $100K/ year.
- Build in Public
- Give more value than you take
Storytelling is like a ninja art to building a personal brand and audience.
It is one of if not the best tool to utilize.
We make sense of our world through stories.
It takes your readers through a journey and keeps them engaged. You can do this in an infinite amount of ways. Anything can be a story or used to sell a story.
Part of Kierans storytelling process is building in public.
This is essentially telling your audience what got you to where you are, and how you plan on getting to where you want to go.
It’s saying “The 7 people on this list got me to my current level of consciousness, and I will be studying them to take me closer to my ideal life.”
The final thing Kieran stresses is always over delivering.
Give more value than you take.
If you want $100 for a course, the value should be worth $1000.
This way it is a no brainer for the person buying and they will be so satisfied with your product that they will be a fan for life.
Again you can see how this plays into storytelling which has become Kieran’s super power.
He wants to build authenticity and authority between him and his audience.
What they all have in common:
Those 7 people shaped my worldview. Without them I would not be sitting here writing to you.
Let’s take 5 main points that they all have in common
- Share your values with conviction
- Be bigger than yourself
- Develop mind, body, spirit, and business
- Have a clear and powerful message
- Storytelling is powerful
Hopefully you can see how each of the 7 used these 5 main points to build their brands and become the successful people they are today.
This one is pretty long so let’s wrap things up.
I hope you dive into some content from these 7 people. Hopefully your curiosity was sparked.
You are what you consume. Consume good quality content and you will be far ahead of the people who binge Netflix and TikTok.
