Tucker Carlson, the Fox News host recently pulled off the air, has plans to relaunch his show on Twitter, according to a video published to Twitter. The news comes after a report from Axios on Sunday that noted Carlson was talking with Twitter CEO Elon Musk about the two men working together.

“Starting soon we’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter,” Carlson said in a new Twitter video.

“We’ll bring some other things too, which we’ll tell you about. But for now we’re just grateful to be here. Free speech is the main right that you have. Without it, you have no others. See you soon,” Carlson continued.

Carlson was removed from his highly coveted time slot at 8 p.m. at Fox News under mysterious circumstances. Some reports claimed Carlson was pulled over controversial comments the host made in private texts messages that only became public as part of a defamation lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems. But other reports speculated Carlson was pulled over a workplace dispute where he tried to get several executives fired. Neither Fox News nor Carlson have provided clarity on why he was pulled from the air.

Carlson has reportedly been trying to negotiate his formal exit from Fox News. Because while he’s been pulled from the air, he still has a contract that extends through early 2025. Fox may be trying to slow walk the exit negotiations in an effort to keep the host from going to a competing network.

“[Carlson] He will forgo at least $25 million owed to him by Fox Corp. in order to break non-compete clause,” Dylan Byers of Puck News noted in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon.

But at this point it looks like the competing network isn’t a network at all but a social media platform.

“Amazingly, as of tonight, there aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech. The last big one remaining in the world, the only one, is Twitter, where we are now. Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops. Twitter is not a partisan site. Everybody’s allowed here, and we think that’s a good thing,” Carlson said in his new video.

“And yet, for the most part, the news that you see analyzed on Twitter comes from media organizations that are themselves thinly disguised propaganda outlets. You see it on cable news, you talk about it on Twitter. The result may feel like a debate, but actually the gatekeepers are still in charge. We think that’s a bad system. We know exactly how it works and we’re sick of it,” Carlson continued.

A request for comment sent to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon was met with a poop emoji, an automated response set up by Elon Musk. I’ll update this article if I hear anything of substance.
